Advocacy 101

Effective workforce policies are grounded in the experiences of the practitioners and communities they impact. In this interactive training, participants will explore how Chicago Jobs Council bridges capacity building and policy advocacy by centering the voices of workforce professionals and the job seekers they serve. Through collaborative learning, participants will examine the key drivers that inform policy priorities and advance efforts to develop equitable career pathways.


Participants will also explore the stakeholders connected to CJC's policy and advocacy work, identify opportunities for collaboration, and gain a deeper appreciation for the collective role workforce professionals can play in shaping policies that better serve job seekers, employers, and communities.

Participants will:

  • Explore the connection between workforce practice, advocacy, and policy priorities.

  • Understand the stakeholders who influence and are influenced by workforce policy.

  • Strengthen your ability to elevate frontline perspectives in conversations that shape the future of workforce development.
