This Just In: 100% of Attendees Recommend the CRC Train-the-Trainer Session!

CJC is dedicated to helping you build capacity within the workforce development field by equipping you with tools and training to better support job seekers. Since its launch, the Career Readiness Curriculum (CRC) has become a go-to resource for workforce practitioners like you. It’s been praised for its depth and flexibility in addressing diverse training needs. However, we’ve also heard your feedback: the CRC can be dense to navigate.

That’s why we introduced the CRC Train-the-Trainer sessions, designed to break down this powerful tool and help you feel confident in using it to guide job seekers toward meaningful, long-term career paths.

And the results are in—our inaugural session was a resounding success!

One attendee shared, “The training and material were very helpful, and I plan to utilize them with my team and our clients moving forward.” Another highlighted “the coaching and training tips” as one thing they found most valuable about the training. This session struck the perfect balance of depth and usability, making the CRC more accessible and impactful for workforce professionals like you.

A Session Packed with Purpose

Led by our own Ciera Smith, the first session focused on four key objectives:

  1. Self-reflection and career goal-setting: Helping you guide job seekers in identifying and setting achievable career goals.

  2. Mapping career paths: Facilitating activities that encourage job seekers to visualize their career trajectory.

  3. Overcoming barriers: Tackling challenges such as scarcity mindset, short-term job focus, and legal hurdles.

  4. Sparking motivation: Using coaching techniques to inspire long-term planning.

During the session, we used Lesson 1 from Topic 2 as our framework. This lesson introduces the career planning process from both the job coach’s and the job seeker’s perspectives. We walked through the structure and content of the lesson while also discussing important pre-work considerations for effective facilitation.

Participants had the chance to engage with one of the lesson’s activities by working in small groups to brainstorm how to integrate it into their practice. The discussions during the Q&A portion sparked rich insights, as they reflected on the relevance of the lesson to their work and shared barriers job seekers commonly face, such as the immediate need for employment or uncertainty about the value of long-term career planning.

What’s Next?

Building on this momentum, our next CRC Train-the-Trainer session will take place on July 16th from 1:00–2:30 PM, where we’ll explore Topic 3, Lesson 1: Résume Fundamentals. If you’re ready to deepen your knowledge and elevate your practice, don’t miss this opportunity!

Supporting workforce professionals like you is the key to advancing CJC's shared mission: removing systemic barriers to employment and creating an antiracist workforce development system.
