  • Presentation of CJC’s Betty J. Willhoite Award recognizing an individual, organization, or team that has gone above and beyond in advancing CJC’s work and improving the field of workforce development

Tickets: CJC will offer Annual Meeting tickets on a sliding scale:

  • Early Bird General Admission (GA): $55 (Through May 15, 2024)

  • Regular GA: $65 (Through June 11, 2024)

  • Day-of Registration: $75

  • Friend of CJC GA: $90

  • CJC Hero GA: $125

CJC members will receive a $5 discount on any ticket selection they choose. 

Advanced registration will close at the end of the day Tuesday, June 11, 2024.

Chicago Deputy Mayor Jen Johnson and George Wright, CEO of The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, in conversation with CJC CEO Dr. Lisa Bly-Jones

Jennifer "Jen" Johnson is the City of Chicago’s Deputy Mayor of Education, Youth, and Human Services (EDYHS). The EDYHS portfolio includes Chicago Public Schools, City Colleges of Chicago, Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Libraries, the Chicago Department of Family & Support Services, the Chicago Department of Public Health, the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, and the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership. Johnson brings to the role of Deputy Mayor nearly two decades of experience as an educator, manager, and organizer. Growing up in a family of educators, she spent 10 years in the classroom as a history teacher at Lincoln Park High School. Johnson most recently served as Chief of Staff for the Chicago Teachers Union. Johnson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Northwestern University, a Master’s Degree of Community and Teacher Leaders from Northeastern Illinois University, and an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL).

George Wright became the CEO of The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership in June 2023. Wright comes to the role after a distinguished career in banking and community investment and after serving as the co-chair of The Partnership’s Board of Directors since 2015.  In April, he stepped down from The Partnership Board and retired as director of community relations for Citibank’s Global Consumer Group. As director of community relations, Wright led all aspects of Citi’s community development portfolio in Illinois and across the Central Region. In addition to his service on The Partnership Board, Wright has served as Board Chair of Accion Chicago and the Center for Economic Progress, as well as the Greater Englewood CDC.  In addition, he is the recipient of numerous community leadership awards, including the James Sills Community Reinvestment Act Leadership Award, the YMCA Black / Hispanic Achiever in Industry Award, the Englewood “Maker of Men” Award, 100 Black Men Leadership Award, the Chicago Defender “Man of Excellence” Award, Executive of the Year for AFP and Chicago “Community Change Maker” Award. Wright received his BS degree in Psychology from St. Joseph’s College and did his graduate studies at Illinois Institute of Technology. 

They are scheduled to appear in conversation with CJC CEO Dr. Lisa Bly-Jones, discussing the state of workforce development in the city and what the city is working on to create equitable career pathways for Chicago youth.
