Intro to the Workforce Investment Act
Course Description
This workshop focuses on raising awareness and understanding of the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA)–Title I and providers’ role in the workforce development system. The training covers:
- The five goals of the federal legislation
- Mandated one stop partners and services
- State and local governance including allocation process
- Definitions and examples of types of customers and services provided through WIA
- Information about performance measure
- Specific examples related to Chicago’s workforce development system
Audience
Intake specialists, case managers and any other staff responsible for initial intake and screening of clients for employment and training programs with 1-3 years in the field.
Course Duration
Half-day workshop–9:00am-12:00pm.
