Liz BomgaarsPolicy AssociateLiz joined CJC in January 2008, as a Policy Associate working on CJC’s citywide policy efforts. She focuses on aldermanic outreach, city budget advocacy, and population-specific workforce development issues (including ex-offenders, youth, people who are homeless, and immigrants). As a graduate student at the University of Chicago, Liz interned at CJC where she was the primary researcher for Big Shoulders, Big Challenges: An Update on Workforce Development Funding in Chicago. Prior to joining CJC, Liz worked with at-risk youth at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in Chicago. In 2006, she worked with the social worker and children at Amistad Mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia, through an international social welfare fellowship. Liz received her bachelor’s degree from Boston College in 2003 and a master’s degree from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration in 2007.
